The Ayala Show is a live music show hosted by Ayala.  Series Two broadcasts weekly from April 8th on Fridays at 10pm on IRISH TV (SKY 191 or live streamed online at www.irishtv.ie ) with repeats on Sundays at 5.30pm, featuring new artists and new releases from London and internationally.  Ayala released her debut album ‘This Year’ in December.

What is your favourite song of all time?

Oooh hard to answer, it probably changes all the time! Maybe currently Africa by Toto!

Can you remember when you fell in love with it?

When I was a teenager and into discovering old records

Has a song or album ever changed your life?

Actually So Much To Say by Take 6 really brought me such peace and hope in a difficult time of my life. Those guys are insanely talented!

If you could only listen to five albums for the rest of time, what would they be?

OK, again hard… but I’d try and pick epic inspirational ones in different styles so 1) Gloria Estefan – Mi Tierra would be in there for those nights when you just need to dance!, 2) Michael Jackson – Thriller or maybe Bad, 3) Stevie Wonder – Songs In The Key Of Life, 4) one of the Ella Fitzgerald with Duke Ellington albums..I’d try n sneak the box set in as one album lol 5) Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons -Big Girls Don’t Cry or maybe a classical record like Handel’s Messiah! SUCH a hard question!!

How much of your day do you spend listening to music?

A LOT. Like all of it! If I’m not writing music either for myself or another project, rehearsing for a gig or working on a record then I’m in our production office exec producing The Ayala Show which is a live music show featuring some amazing new music from up and coming acts as well as some already established gems, so I’m listening and watching that footage all day long. When I finish work I listen to music to unwind and enjoy listening to the radio as well to see what’s going on there. I also listen to music in the mornings to get revved up for the day!

What’s your ideal time and place for listening to music?

I do always love listening in the car. I have good speakers in my car and I love blasting it loud and sharing the experience!

What’s the best gig/show you’ve ever been to?

Oooh, I went to a truly stunning gig at The Royal Festival Hall years back with the cuban pianist Bebo and the Spanish Flamenco singer Cigala on their duet album Bebo y Cigala -Black and White tour. They totally blew me away! It was the last night of their tour so I think it had some magic about it. I was also totally blown away by Gilbert O’Sullivan in February performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra for BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night. I had the honour of guesting on one of the songs (a duet I have with him on his new album Latin Ala G called ‘I Guess I’ll Always Love You) but then was TOTALLY inspired and really enjoyed watching the rest of the concert from the wings too. That was a highlight of 2016 for me so far.

Approximately how big is your music collection? And in what format?

I just bought a record player recently because my parents always had one growing up and I always found that records sounded better then any other format. I now have a load of their old collection and I’m adding to it bit by bit. I also have an apple music account for practicality and I think that everyone should subscribe and pay to one of the digital music streaming site’s because that’s the only way I can see that we can collectively save the music industry moving forwards, to get money flowing again through music and start to pay our artists again so we can eat!

What does music mean to you?

It’s my work, my hobby and my passion. It provides a voice and a medium for everyone to feel things through and a soundtrack for our lives, so it’s also a valuable and important part of our society.

What song should we all go and listen to right now to make our day better?

The Weeknd – Can’t Feel My Face. Still does it for me! Such a feel good tune! It was one of my best 2015 pick me ups!
